I installed a short shifter to my 2015 subaru WRX STI Limited edition. Since the upgrade when i am in 6th gear it sounds like its rubbing or vibrating. Also if i am in neutral and i take the shifter to the right ( towards 6th gear) it makes a rubbing sound. I have had a subaru mechanic look into it and states he doesnt see anything. Thoughts?

What brand short shifter did you install?

Did you confirm that the shift linkage does not make contact with the linkage tunnel when in gear? Sometimes you have to bend the tunnel to accept a shorter throw.

Fixed the issue, but another question

So i ordered a new reverse cable, and got underneath the car. I found that the old cable had a lot of damage to it, it appears it was the drive train that caused it. So i installed a new cable and insured the drive train was not going to interfere with it... a couple weeks later the vibration was back, and now this is damaged. I just removed the reverse cable and am not going to replace it, any concern with that?
