I installed a short-throw shifter yesterday and I go and shift into 3rd hard and the whole thing with the plastic ball cup recepticle came out of the holder underneath the car. The c-clip that held on the plastic recepticle fell out. I'm wondering if this has to do with the fact that the short shifter has the lever part of it raised higher than the stock one to make it a shorter throw. Maybe this is causing more stress on the plastic recepticle. Has anyone had this problem? I haven't gotten a chance to replace the c-clip yet cause I have to raise the car up so I can get at it from underneath with the special tool. This is one big PITA and I have to shift very carefully now so it doesn't pop out till I fix it.

Does anyone know if any companies sell an aluminum recepticle cause the plastic one looks real cheap for something that is supposed to handle so much stress.

Any help appreciated for this PITA thing. thanks.
