Well When i get my WRX I am planning on making my Saturn into a Dirt rally car...not a competition car, but just for fun! going to space the springs 1.5-2" off the perch to raise the car. fab up some custom latteral links that are 4.5"wider both front and rear. Roll cage, and then a sub frame brace. upgrate to rear disk. solid tranny and engine mounts.
also for the strut tower monts im going to make the struts ride on a pin and bushing so when the suspension goes up and down the strut can change angles. Weld the diff pin to keep it from exploding. Rebuild bock.

Main reason for the longet latteral links is to keep the CVs in their opperating range of motion when raised.

And of course skid plates

if you guys could think of anything else please feel free to!

When are you getting your Rex?

Well, what I'd do is probably sell/trade-in the Saturn for more mod money (unless I had a lot of money, in which case I'd turn the Saturn into an offroad beast :D )

We'll have to make a drive up Mt. Lemmon sometime with the Tucson crew when you get your Suby. :wiggles:

Its a Saturn, it will crack if you hit something.
I helped my little brother install a couple 10's in the trunk of his Saturn, and they damn near blew it apart.
I'm no Saturn expert, but it seems like a lot of work to turn it into a rally car, even just a 'fun' one. I'd say put the money into a nice little mod fund for a future rex

Buy, *do not* build, a rally car.

There are several reasons for this. One is that it takes a tremendous amount of time and money to build a car. More than one would expect. It also takes a tremendous amount of time and money to keep a car running. If you can avoid the former altogether you'll have both more time and more money to do the latter, which is inevitable.

Also, rally cars are like domestic pets in that there is no need to breed more; there are plenty homeless right now in shelters...

Check locally and you will no doubt find all sorts of ready-to-sink-money-and-time into rally cars just waiting for someone with tools and valid checks to take them home.

It doesn't pay to convert your existing road car.

Plus, its a saturn.

j/k. I'd have to agree with SD_GR. Rally cars need to be much stronger than a regular track car.
