Thursday or friday i might go to look at this 05 WRX, it has 48000 miles. He said he bought it with a spun bearing so subaru installed a new motor and that motor has about 5,000 miles on it. Hes asking $12000 for it. It also has ARP Headstuds, ARP Connecting Rod Bolts, Cometic Master Gasket Set, Exedy Clutch & Flywheel, and a HKS cat-back exhaust.

The only problem i have with it is why the motor was replaced at such low mileage.

Can anyone tell me what they would do and if they think its a good/bad deal?

Thanks.

I have an 04 WRX and it has just over 51,000 miles on it and I spun a rod bearing as of last month. A major pain and going through subaru to get it fixed but anyway. The 2.0 liters are notorious for spinning bearings and if he spun a bearing then that is what would cause the motor to need to be replaced since it does cause significant damage to the block. Ask the guy what subaru said caused the bearing to spin and if they upgraded the oil pump or not but I would say with the new motor it should be okay.
