I am jacked up can't wait! Here goes first couple stupid new guy question for ya guys. I know you need to put 1000 miles on it pretty easy before you start getting rough on her I plan to do all this by the book. My question for ya is I want to increase HP pretty soon just to have on tap not racing at track or anything just to have. My father has a VW 2011 GTI he took to Dallas texas (we live in oklahoma) and paid $600 had like 4 programs loaded in the computer (91octane) (93 octane)(100 octane) didn't dyno it but man it really woke it up runs nice now very perky! Question for you guys is can same be done for the Subaru's? I see this Cobb stuff and pro tune stuff and flash stuff I am just not up on all this stuff I come from 87-93 mustangs we put fuel systems and blowers and slicks and hauled the mail! Also my fathers GTI he claims they told him all he has to do is reflash computer to stock and they can never tell it has been upgraded and wont effect warrenty is this true with Subaru? Thanks and sorry for long post but this website rocks! Chris

Welcome.First of all,you have a very cool Dad.

I'm sorry but that is a myth.Any engineer can tell if the ECU has been reset.Meaning they will assume that a flash has been attempted. This concerns any car, including Subarus.

And yes,the Cobb maps really do wake up the car.Even a Stage 1 map with no mods.

A tactrix cable is just that,a cable. You will have to purchase maps & download them to the car with a laptop.More cost effective

The Cobb AP is a monitoring device as well as a device that you can use to flash the ECU with maps provided by Cobb.A more expensive variant naturally as the maps & regular updates are provided.

Congrats man! Nice choice in color and trim :). From the sound of what your dad had done to his GTi the Cobb ap and maps would but a similar route in the SUBARU world. You would probably want to go that route as just from what I read here you don't sound like a person who wants to datalog/tune their own car. It's rewarding but also quite a commitment in it's own regard. The Cobb options make it quite easy and hassle free.

In regards to updating your tune or tuning the car your self it's one of those things in which you have to assume liability and be prepared to be out of pocket on some things should something happen. Nature of the beast man. enjoy the new ride!

I am interested in downloading and being done for awhile. It would be nice to have few different maps to choose from 91-93-100 octane my fathers car he does it all through the controls on the steering wheel its pretty factory and cool how they did it! Is there any way to order tune and download it myself not have to go to out of state etc.... There has to be tons of tunes out there. Thanks Everyone

^ used. I just reflashed with a Cobb AP yesterday and bought the Cobb used for $360. I think thats the cheapest I've seen on the forums since used APs can still run $450+.

I am also interested if there are much gains with this setup. I'm worried about voiding the warranty and realize that remapping can affect the warranty but what kind of stuff can go wrong...blown turbo/engine etc?

Congrats on the purchase. I just picked up my 11 WRX Limited Spark Silver Hatch on Monday. Trust me, break-in by the book is much harder once you're in the drivers seat.

Break in is no sweat. You have plenty of time to get into the throttle after the initial 1000 miles has elapsed. I hope everything works out as planned for you!

Congrats. Yeah the stereo is a bit weak, but it's enough for me for the time being.
