Hello all,

I have a 2008 subaru Impreza 2.5i.

Resently the power steering pump started to make a lot of noise.

First thing I did was drain the power steering reservoir and replaced it with automatic transmission fluid. The noise continued to happen.

Next after analyzing the situation I felt that I had a bad power steering pump so I purchased a power steering pump. Install the pump put fresh automatic transmission fluid in and the noise is still happening.

Next time I tried it was to replace the rubber o-ring on the power steering pump and the noise is still happening.

I've run out of ideas of what to do so I'm looking for any suggestions on how to get rid of the noise the video below is my car and the noise that it's currently making I believe the noises coming out of the high pressure hose.

I would guess the shop/repair manual for your car would have the procedure in it. My buick shop manual said to leave one of the hoses (pressure or rtn, cant remember which one) loose while turning the wheels and filling the reservoir until a solid stream of fluid seeped out the loose hose. I did not do this but jacked up both sides of the car, started it and cranked wheel full back and forth several times until the screeching stopped. I think I got lucky doing this without bleeding it. Having the wheels off the ground allowed me to whip it back and forth faster and perhaps that helped.

I think i figured it out. I put the car up on jack stands, refilled the fluid, then turned it lock to lock 30 times with the car off. The noise was still there when i first started to drive but then about 10 mins later it was fine
