I ordered a 2018 WRX Limited 8 weeks ago and I'll thankfully be taking delivery one week from today. I have been reading all kinds of recommendations for mods, etc. One that has bubbled to the top multiple times is installing the Perrin shift stop. I have ordered and received the piece. I have watched the youtube vids on how to install, etc.

My question is this. I ordered my car with the factory installed short shifter... has anyone here installed the Perrin shift stop with the factory installed short throw shifter? If so anything different with the install?

Wondering this myself. Have the same car due to arrive in a week and wondering if it's necessary..? Have read from some that it is still worth it and others say you don't even need it. I have drove an 18 with the STS and thought it felt solid. Might just drive the car for a while and see for myself before modifying. I do intend on doing a brass shifter bushing and boomba short shift adapter plate to shorten the throw even further. Thoughts on this welcome as well

I'll probably go with the brass bushing and boobma shift adaptor on top of the stock STI STS plus a weighted shift knob and that will probably be super smooth and crisp

As above post, I too have the factory short shifter and installed Perrin short shift stop. Installed easily. Works well. And my shifts are delightfully short.

I would like to see the source of the above post that the optional OEM short shifter only reduces throws by 10%, for I have repeatedly heard numbers in the 20-30% range (though I do not have a factual source for that, just repeated, forum, "urban legend").

Subaru states that their short shifter "Significantly reduces shift throw lengths for crisper shifts and sportier driving feel," but again, not yet found a precise/mathematical amount of how much shorter Subaru's is.

My car is due to be delivered next week so when I go to the dealer I will take measurements of a stock 6-speed throw end of my car which has the STI STS. Then I will take them again after the boomba short shift adaptor install and will be able to calculate the exact percentage reduced from bone stock to short throw to short throw with short shift adaptor.
