Opinions on 2017 STI build quality?

Greetings all, been a while since I've been on the site or in the suby world, but that might change shortly. I'm looking for your opinions on the build quality of the new 2017 STI. I previously had a 2010 STI Hatch that I hated. The interior was poorly constructed, everything rattled and was made out of cheap ass plastic to save weight. I loved driving the car, but the interior fitment and buzzing/rattling drove me to sell it back in 2013. I have not been able to see one in person as none of the dealers near me have an STI is stock. Any info you can provide on your opinions/experience are greatly appreciated!

Same quality as any 2015 or newer WRX and STI. Just find a regular WRX on the lot and see for yourself.

Take a look at Honda or Acura instead.
I had a 13 WRX. The interior quality is fair, but it's not great by any means. I have a couple rattles on my 15 in the winter, but everything is fine in the summer. The build quality has gotten a lot better, but it's still definitely not the reason you buy this car.
The interior is improved a lot from the 2010 you previously had, but still nothing luxury.
I had one buzz and fixed that by sticking one of those 'get-out-of-jail-free' plastic cards between the window pillar post and the dashboard. Otherwise, car is tight. Can't compare to older versions, but there 'is' a lot of plastic. But that is the case with many non-luxury cars. As for fitment, finish, rattles, buzzes, etc. I find my 2015 not bad at all. For me the bigger issues is lack of insulation resulting in wind and road noise higher than I am used to.
i think it is quite a bit better then my 2011 wrx but im not picky when it comes to interior. if something rattles just take it in and have it fixed under warranty.
I have a '16 WRX and the build quality is good for the most part with rattling during music playing being my only complaint. I have upgraded front and rear speakers on an aftermarket amp as well as a sub so anything that can rattle in the car, rattles, sometimes at low volumes. I've noticed the main problem with the rattling is the rear brake light but I haven't got around to fixing it however there is a write up online addressing it.

In comparison to the '15 Legacy I previously had, which I know isn't a fair comparison, the differences in build quality (rattles, road noise, and things like that) are noticeable but nothing the performance of the car won't overshadow.

Have you looked at the Golf R's interior? Sounds like you may like their interior build quality.
I have two different rattles in my 16. One is right behind the bottle holder in the passenger door panel, and the other Im not sure of. Any ideas on how I can fix these?

Best thing you can do (if you're up for it) is take the panel off and secure anything that may be rattling. I drive a 2014 and have been able to get rid of the most annoying rattles (A pillars, B pillar, tail gate, rear seat latch) pretty easily. Only ones I'm having trouble with are the privacy cover in the trunk (I drive a hatch) and some rattle that seems to be originating from deep inside my dashboard.

Aside from the rear seat latch, the rest of the rattles were either coming from the area where the panel meets the next panel, or from the clips that hold the wiring running throughout the car. Foam tape and felt washers seem to be pretty effective.
I came from a 2011 VW GTI that were known to be the king of rattles so I can't hear a single thing in my 2016 lol.... as for the build quality, it's got a soft touch dash now, some more softer materials at contact points, and even looks better than the previous years but still nothing to write home about.

I think it is 2 screws, then the door panel pops off by grabbing lower front vertical edge and a short but firm yank, then lifting up to clear the window lip. Wires are attached to the back so don't yank too far.
Comparing to the 2004 I had its super quiet and luxury looking in the 2017. haha
rqjoe, what is this get-out-of-jail-free plastic card you speak of?
