Do most of you change the filter with every oil change you do?

Yes, I change it every time on every vehicle I own/have owned. The way I look at it is like this: It's cheap insurance and I'm already under the car draining the oil.
+1 I also change it with every oil change every 3750 miles
Why wouldn't you change the filter every time? A clean filter is just as important as fresh oil. Plus you have to take off the oil filter in order to fully drain the old oil........... I also only use Subaru oem oil filters.
Was discussing this with someone who was told he could change the filter every other time he does an oil change. Didn't sound right to me but figured I'd post and ask here
The better manufacturers allow this yes; on their engines you can indeed change the filter every other oil drain interval. Subaru are disgraceful in this regard: they actually DECREASED the oil change interval for their cars, passing the cost to the environment and the consumer rather than fixing the actual problems, and they specify a new filter every (very short) oil change. Shame.
The internal construction of many filters is pretty poor as well.. like end caps made from cardboard (Subaru OEM), so there's a possibility of failure if you leave it on for too long. Although I haven't actually seen that happen.. probably because everyone I know changes the filter every time they change the oil, and not many people other than myself will take the time to cut their old filters open and inspect them.
Every time. Also +1 for OEM Subaru filters. I buy them for about 3/4 the price on Amazon vs. the Dealership.
Also change both at the same time, and to insure the new motor's minute metal particles from breaking the rings and more are quickly removed, I always change my oil and filter on every new car I buy at 500 miles. Yes, on my nickel, but worth it IMO.

Thereafter will change both every 3,750 miles. Oil and filter are cheap insurance. Driven 2,000,000 miles on 25 new vehicles (including motorcycles), and never had one motor go south.
I change mine every time as well but I've always found it odd that there is a cut out in the splash guard for the oil drain plug.. but you have to remove the splash guard to access the filter.

That is weird.. I've never had to remove it to change the filter on either of my Subarus. There is an access hole just large enough to put your hand through, unscrew the filter, and drop it down and out underneath the car.
Yep...Wix oil filter & every other filter change I swap the Wix air filter. Cheap and works great.

I thought about this though I get so much oil drain when the filter comes out I just take off the splash guard. Though the Fumoto quick valve is definitely handy to have to drain.

Not the case with 2015 WRX+ . . . the oil filter is ridiculously easy to access . . . . just lift the hood and spin off the oil filter. It sure beats my old 4Runner which required a contortionist to change out the filter.
