Just bought a 20 wrx with 15k miles. I’m pretty handy with a manual trans. Never driven an awd car though. Mostly mustangs. Tried launching at 3500 with quick clutch release and throttle feed. Smelled a little clutch. Is that normal? I don’t think I could get out of the clutch much faster without just dumping it. Which I’m trying to avoid. Trying to roll out and feed throttle, but you have to be pretty aggressive I’m seeing to resist bogging.

You'd have to overcome the grip of the tires.

The weakest link will spin the clutch or the tires. With the power of the WRX the chances are the clutch will be the weak point.

You could get a clutch with far more holding capability, but the weak point moves to something else. I'd suspect a CV.
