I have been eyeing a 2004-2005 WRX for some time now and wanted thoughts of others about how the Auto fairs. Now I know there are those of you who are diehard Manual Nazi's, but give me a fair assessment of the car as a whole. I am currently driving a 2004 Mazda Rx-8.

Well with the auto tranny on a wrx ull obviously have less control of the revs. If you have never had a turbo charged car before, it is critical that you keep the revs high for any kind of decent acceleration. I have a manual 04 WRX and wouldnt think twice about getting another manual tranny in a turbo charged car. Hope this helps.

I test drove an RX-8 last month. Nice ride, more power than I expected and tons of rpm range. There's like 2 too many gears...

...the wrx drive more like an RX8 on steroids, more jerky and you go thru gears way faster. If you want smooth, the wrx is not a good option.

You get a lot more space, but the interior will be a step down. And you go from sleek aero dynamics to a quirky style.

depends on what you want, but they are very different cars.
