Hi all.
My '04 Wagon with about 13.8K miles on it seems like the brakes are running low and may be at the end of their life. Not quite a metal on metal sound, but not quiet like normal. (no grooves on rotors)

Shouldn't they last longer? I use this as my daily driver (long commute, very little traffic)

I never downshift when stopping. (brakes cheaper than clutch mentality)

hm, i'm at 66k miles and i only now have noticed grooving on my stock rotors. yes, i think they should be lasting longer than that... maybe you brake pretty hard and are wearing down your pads to the nubs?

did you do any suspension mods that may be squeeking under braking?

maybe you have some debris between the rotor and one of the pads?

Your brakes should definitely not be wearing out at this point.

Well, it depends on use. I only got 7.5k out of mine.

If you're not sure what kind of wear you are getting, pull a wheel and look. I'll tell you this much though, if they're really wearing out, you will know it. When you really get into the wear indicator, it won't be "not quiet like normal" - it'll be " OMFG WHAT'S WRONG WITH MY CAR  ". There'll be no doubt about it!
