Is being a pain. I can start it up and it will idle just fine. But you put it under a little load and the motor sounds like it's hissing from the exhaust. I really don't know what it could possibly be other than it's started dropping cylinders or stuck valves? I'm just at a loss because sometimes it sounds fine. So...anyone got any insight on it? I fear I will probably be rebuilding it :sadwave:

Nope. The whole attitude of the engine changes. The exhaust note switches to what I would call a hissing and there is a loss of power. There isn't any fluid leaking. I should do a compression test so I may do that this afternoon.

Suspect:
1. Clogged exhaust +/- clogged catcon.
2. Exhaust leak.
3. Intake leak.
Listed in decreasing likelihood in my view (incidentally, I'm not a mechanic to my view is, well, worthless; see my signature...) and decreasing cost.

That's my story, I'm sticking to it.

By the way, if it's a plug the hissing will be rhythmic, before the plug comes out entirely and the car sounds like a tug boat. How do I know this? Anyway, since it's not rhythmic (yet?) I left plugs out of my initial semi-idiotic analysis.

This makes sense...I'll check out the exhaust tonight when I get home.

For pregnancy?
Oh don't say that...

Argh, bummer, that was the costliest guess. Sorry.
Honestly, it wasn't too bad. Vato Zone had a magnaflow stock replacement collector/cat for 230 bucks. Better than an engine rebuild which was my initial assumption. I'll post a pic of what the clog was later.
