i cant decide whether to go with the m2 or mrt exhaust system, i dont want the system too loud and i think these to systems r comparable, any of u guys have one of these systems and did u guys feel a big difference? my car is still stock, planning to do the stock silencer mod with either k&n or itg panel filter, gfb 50/50 blow off valve, and either one of those turbo back exhaust, lemme know which one of these to get and if u have any problems or comments about them, thanx

ask Veritas or Sobewrx, both of these guys have the MRT and can give you some feedback on that system.

check out turbo magazine (i think) i saw it in borders the other night. They did a comparison on like 20 different wrx exhausts. It was very informative showing hp and tq gains, decibels, price...
i couldn't find the table on there website but if i get the magazine i will scan it in for u

Hey for my money I would get the cat-less exhaust system from Turbo XS!!! If you want more info check out their website or contact Garret at World One Performance, he can help you decide and give you a great price on one of them!!!! I just ordered mine from him and the exhaust sound is sweet!!!

that is how you can get up with him!! Good luck!!

are these exhaust cat back or turbo back systems? cause wondering how some of the exhaust make more power than the m2 and mrt.

I would assume that they're cat-back. The gains from a turbo-back would be much more significant over stock than the ones in this list. Supposedly most any catless downpipe would net 15 hp by itself so... Anyone else know?

I've been taking a closer look at the MRT downpipe, it looks pretty good. Does anyone know if it'll bolt up to the stock cat-back?

So where are the decibel numbers? Most people say the Scoobysport turboback is pretty quiet, too. Then my friend downloads a soundclip and says it's "really F'n loud". So does anyone have some hard numbers on these systems? With the crackdown here in SD I am very interested in keeping my sound levels down while improving performance as much as possible so as not to pique the interest of the local PDs and CHP.

I have the 4" tip M2 exhaust and I can say that it is not too loud. More like a good V8 rumbling around. I do know that the scoobysport one is hella loud.

Also there is no highway drone and you have the option of 3 different tips. Dual 3"(like stock) single 4" or 5".

M2 has a sound clip for theirs here

MRT make a downpipe specifically to hook up to a stock cat back.

I have this mag on my desk. I bought it because I am deciding what exhaust to purchase. I added in some stuff (like loudness) that was left out of the numbers given previously. There is more to a comparison than max hp/tq gains IMPO (In my proud opinon, as my wife likes to say).:)

Under the previous figures I've added largest hp gain and tq gain over stock and at what rpm and decibles at idle and 3k rpm. I've also added the rpm where the max hp and tq gains were made.

Quietest at idle and at 3k rpm - GReddy
Loudest at idle - Blitz
Loudest at 3k rpm- Thermal
Highest Peak Gain Hp/Tq - HKS
Largest Hp gain over stock - Blitz
Largest Tq gain over stock - Skunk2
Smallest increases in all catagories - M2

Hope this helps. I know it certainly helped me. To help me see which exhaust would be the best considering overall gains relative to loudness, I used an averaging system for hp/tq gains and quietness. I want to get the most gains with the least amount of noise. HKS and Blitz tied for best in overall hp/tq gains. GReddy was the quietest and was in the middle in hp/tq gains. Price, they are all about the same.

If I go only by my averaging of this comparison, I will go with the HKS. But I hate that potato laucher look. Before this comparison I was really close to getting the MRT. I still might. I was close to the top in quietness and overall hp/tq gains. Add in the twin tip option, and that might make the deal.

Anyway, hope the extra number help others who are thinking about which exhaust to get.:D :D

The MRT downpipe/turboback system is great. not loud, but an excellent authorative deeper tone to exhaust and no drone at all at any rpm, actually quieter than stock system at highway speeds. I have turboback system from MRT with downpipe w/hiflow cat, no silencers and muff w/4in tip. Excellent quality construction, fits great ( no rubbing or clanging against anything using stock hangars ). Plus I like the splitter design in the downpipe to keep wastegate and exhaust gasses separate until further downstream...better turbo response due to less turbulence.

Twinz,

Do you or does anyone else have a sound file of the MRT? I have looked all over the internet for one and can only find one at Vishnu. Unfortunately, when I try to listen to it, it won't work. I've tried everything I know to get it to play, but no dice.

You said that it is quieter at highway speeds, but Turbo mag measured it at 104 db @ 3000 rpm. I was hoping for something a little more quiet than that. I really, really, really want to hear the MRT before I purchase it!

Any help anyone could give me would be much appreciated. One would think that MRT would have a sound file on their web page. BTW, if you want to hear some exhausts, www.fastwrx.com has sound files for a couple of exhausts - HKS and Blitz if my memory serves.

Thanks,
Bill
