Looking for my 1st set of winter tires/wheels

I need some winter tire recommendations. During winter, I will be doing at least 2 road trips from Chicago to Colorado. Currently Im looking at the Blizzak WS80s. These seem to be very promising, but Im still not sure. I need a tire that works well for long distance driving going 85-95mph. This is around a 1100 mile trip one way.

How do the WS80s handle going that fast? Also does anyone have Blizzak LM-series tires? I've read they are better on handling, just not as good on ice/snow.

I wouldn't recommend running any snow tire that fast. They are typically very soft and floaty. I know the tire is rated for much higher speeds, I believe it's a 130mph tire, it doesn't mean. You want to push it there.

My experience with blizzaks in the past was positive. The grip is great breaking was phenomenal, and they really didn't make huge amounts of noise. The downside is they seemed to wear really really fast.

Since speed will be a factor, do you think performance winter tires would work better?
If you are in any situation where snow tires are beneficial, you shouldn't be doing anything near the speed that you stated. No snow tire is going to save you at those speeds.

I will definitely need snow tires in winter where I live and where I will be going for snowboarding trips. The in between is the issue since I will be driving on the interstate.
I would highly recommend not going that fast on them. Although they preform fairly well on dry pavement they are a far cry from the grip of a summer or even uhp all season.

If dry grip is still important look at winter performance tires instead of just 'snow tires'.
I've got the Falken HS449 Eurowinter tires for winter and they have impressive grip in the dry cold weather.
They got me safely through the past Michigan winter just fine.

EDIT: They're V speed rated (149MPH) in 245/40/18.
Thanks for the help! Im going to look into these tires. :)
