I saw a nice black legacy sedan in West LA that had a PEZ or PEV after the Legacy 2.5 label on the back. What is is? That's not a hybrid of some sort is it?

So how does a 2.5 Legacy achieve partial zero emissions? And it must be something offered broadly from Subaru if the cars come labeled that way. I think I'll just call my local Subie dealer and find out.

This ties in with a thread discussing catalytic converters yesterday evening. In case your dealer does not vote, a PZEV meets SULEV exhaust standards, has no evaporative emissions and has a 15 year / 150,000 mile warranty.

To be a SULEV the vehicle must have better emissions than 90% of new cars. No evaporative emissions means that the vehicle has fewer emissions while being driven than a typical gasoline car has while just idling.
