hey all, I was interested to see what you all usually do when you are waiting for an extended amount of time in your car. How long of a wait time do you leave the engine on until you shut it off? Also, does turning you engine on and off frequently bad for the car. Does it take more gas starting up the car vs leaving the engine at idle.

If it's really cold, leave it on.
If not I usually turn it off because i'm running cat-less

The extra fuel to start the car is nominal.

If it's winter, then I'll leave it running for the heat. Otherwise, maybe 30 seconds. The only exception would be track days where I'll go several minutes with it on.
