The exhaust is where the easiest power will come from.

A FMIC on a stock setup is pointless and will probaly hinder things unless he gets that and a tune (which is still pointless since the TMIC is fine on the stock turbo).

Either get exhaust along with some EM or get a tune on the stock setup.

+1 Simply stated.

No point to upgrade the engine parts at all unless you're gonna get an increase in power performance, and that starts with the upgrading the exhaust system and making that flow better as well as installing the correlating engine management. Other than that...the stock STI parts are very efficient.

FWIW, Upgrading to an FMIC on the stock turbo has much higher potential for pressure loss, resulting in a loss of power, especially without any kind of a tune. Even upgrading to a larger TMIC can cause this to occur...

Will the intercooler give him any power over the stock cooler? .
No. It's more resistant to heat soak.... thats it. No power increase whatsoever.
