The intercoolers on wrx's particularly around salt air in the mid atlantic area get aluminum oxidation which in bad cases crystalizes like bad lawn furniture does. Can anyone tell me a way of cleaning the intercooler with any products that are safe. I've thought of brushing up the aluminum around the edges with a soft copper brush to get the oxidation off.Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Also Ive seen a/c techs use a mild acid spray to clean condensors for better air to air heat exchange..is this ever done on these. I wouldn't want to make a bad mistake.
