Hey Star Wars fans- (I know there's lots of us on this board) if you haven't seen AOTC IMAX yet, go right now- it was so awesome! The detail you see in this movie is amazing- you see SOOOOO much that you'd never notice on a regular size screen. I went to the Palisades Park Imax here in NY today and the 501st was there. I got a pic w/ a couple of Jedi and with a Stormtrooper and Darth Vader. Hey, kinda cheesy, but why not? It's for children's charity. Anyway, do not miss this movie on Imax!

I just got back from it. I didn't realize until afterwards that they edited out a lot of scenes for this version, so when I was watching it I felt like I was losing my mind. I kept figuring I just zoned out and didn't realize those scenes had passed. The final lightsaber duels are friggin awesome on the BIG big screen though.

They took a lot out because of the Imax format- apparently, you can't have a movie more than 2 hours long without them having to use a 2nd reel and an intermission, so they decided to go with a shortened version. I go to www.theforce.net daily- it has a nice compilation of SW news from around the 'net all on 1 page.

Just a few of the scenes I noticed were cut (I could be wrong):
  • Obi-wan & Anakin first meeting Padme
  • The view through the sniper scope trying to shoot Obi
  • Padme and that crying whatsherface girl saying goodbye "i worry about you"
  • The scene where Spiderman's mother helps Obi-wan in the library
  • Anakin rubbing Padme's arm
  • The Indian queen
  • The sound of music scenes (Padme & Anakin frolicking in the meadow)

There's more I can't think of at the moment.

IMO, All worthwhile scenes to cut...especially all that stupid lovey dovey crap....

Why did they cut them?

jedimaster - did you see the man show "cutting in lines" skit.
they cut in line of the people in the starwars line, some of who had been waiting there for weeks.

Yeah- I missed it on tv, but got it from Kazaa- funny stuff. I like the Imax clones better- a lot of extraneous stuff was removed. I saved my wife some embarassment this time and left my lightsaber at home.

What would you have done?

Well, for the premiere of Ep2, I went with my lightsaber- pictured in my avatar, but in the pic, it's hard to tell what it looks like: it looks really cool in the dark- I bought it on the 'net for 150 dollars- it's the nicest one I've seen, except for the ones on www.parksabers.com , and everyone wanted to check it out- I was offered a top bid of 400 dollars for it from fans attending the premiere- and my wife hates the attention, as she's kind of shy. I left the saber at home for the Imax premiere to spare her some embarassment.

Oh, I thought you were holding a handle of something, then you photoshoped it!

What would you have done to adam and jimmy if they cut you in line?

I'd have handed the saber off to my wife so as not to damage it, then grabbed each of them by the ear and escorted them to the door. As far as the photo goes, no photochop there- I'm going to try and get better pics of me with the saber- it's just too cool.

Can you hit stuff with it, and it wont break?
Hahahaha, I dont think it would have been that easy, just grabbing them, buy the ears.

Yeah, I know what you mean by frivolous- it's hard enough to allocate money for mods to the car, without the wife asking why I "need" a new grill, etc. The Star Wars stuff is a whole other obsession and I'm only allowed one at a time.

And grabbing someone by the ear is actually a good way to get them moving- they don't know what to do until you let them go. Unfortunately, the saber is fairly delicate- there are other, more durable ones out there, but they look pretty ghey.
