So i went to change my wheels from winter to summer, awhile back and noticed this dark black clumpy grease all over the inside of my wheel. I figured it was the cv joint boot and decided I should replace it since the Front passenger axle seemed fine. So i replaced it with my buddy and when we took it off regreased, changed the tranny fluid and put a new oem boot on, with better clamps, the weird thing is there wasnt even a rip in the boot to allow a leak. Now since the repair a few weeks later i noticed the same black crud is building up in the wheel well again. Ill attach pictures of what it looks like before repair, but was my original diagnosis wrong? Is it something else? Or does the front right axle just need a full replacement? This is on a 2016 wrx, thanks

That's what I'd have done.

You perhaps didn't get it clamped well or it's got a surface imperfection.
