I'm having a hell of a time getting more than ~$500 off of a used Wrx. I've tried every trick in the book I can think of and they all basically tell me "that's the price" and to move on. I surely didn't expect the value to be as solid as it is.

I have been quoted $27k OTD for a brand new 2017 Wrx Base. There are local dealers hell bent on ~$24-25k OTD for 20-40k mile 2015 base Wrxs. That level of depreciation seems very low!

Thoughts? Am I crazy for thinking I should be able to get $1,000-$1,500 or so off of asking on one of these cars?

They definitely don't haggle much on the used ones, because if you don't buy it, a 20 something with an itch for a WRX that can only finance 22,000 will come along and buy it because they simply can't finance the extra 5K to buy a new one.

If you can afford new, I would get the new one. Especially since you can find a Subaru ambassador and get a $500 off coupon from them, and get great prices with forum vendors like Clayton or Heuberger

I'll have to research this Subaru ambassador deal, I haven't heard of it. I qualify for the "graduate discount" on a new on [$500] already since I finished my MBA last year. Not sure if they'd double-dip the coupon and the graduate discount.

Yeah the demand for these cars....they're not going to haggle. There's no need. Maybe if they're in a rush to sell it, say if it's an old unit, then they'll be more willing

Could have walked away with a 16 limited lease for 270 a month because it's the last one and they can't get rid of it, on top of employee pricing

I will see how it pans out, I've started tracking local cars and pricing for about a week and a half now. Hopefully I can ID the cars that start sitting, luckily, I am in NO hurry. I have a backup daily [TDI buy-back refugee]. These cars are very not-common around here, if it's not a pickup truck or a Tahoe people don't pay much attention to it here in Texas. I am surprised the Subarus have much of a following, I may see one per week.

I just can't seem to justify that the 2017 Base model is a $27k car. I like the power/driveline but interior, horrid stock tune, interior quality and a few other things just knock down what I'm willing to pay for one. I am looking for one that wasn't owned by a chump kid however, than that's a +1UP for the new car.

I'd imagine the fact that they're an AWD car is what kills the scene for them in Texas.

Most people buy them because they're good in bad weather, and the worst you get down there is rain! haha.

I probably see 5 WRX's a day, and COUNTLESS other Subaru models.

Agreed. We get sleet every now and then at the northern side of the state, but nothing people buy a purpose-built vehicle for. Which is why I'm surprised dealers are so hard pressed on pricing.
