to drive it? New '08 5door 5 speed(ofcourse). I don't dog it, but dang it wants to just GO all the time. I'm sure as I get more accustomed to the gearbox and clutch I'll be able to drive it slower (lol) but for now its not smooth unless I'm to 60 in 8 secs or so(in 35 and 45 zones, gotta watch that too!).

So, am I ragging it? should I baby it for 5K (as if) I mean what to do? Its like a hot Asian chick that moved in next door, turns out she's a virgin and a swimsuit model, and loves good American Redneck lovin!

also had 2 more attempted races... a sweet audi and some kinda rice rocket, maybe an EVO he was outta there not sure!

This car is the Tits!

I would try to be kind to the drivetrain - at least for the first 1 or 2k.

I did this and have had zero oil consumption 36k miles later.

There are those who think drive it like you stole it right away.

The suggested rpm is 4k or below. Try to keep it out of boost or WOT when you are able.

4k? that seems a bit much. i've always heard between 2-3k

edit: JK!

"New Car Break-in period:
1000 miles: Drive calmly for the first 1,000 miles
Avoid hard starts and stops.
Avoid over-revving the engine, try to keep RPMs under 4000.
Vary your speeds over the full range of city and highway driving
Don't use cruise control much, if at all.
City and freeway driving is fine because that will vary the speeds
1st oil change is due at 3 months or 3,000 miles "

Like I said. :)

Varying speeds is a good practice for any new engine. I did my first oil change at 3k and switched to Mobil 1 at 6k.

misleading title ... and yes if you aren't nice to your car during breakin you may find yourself consuming alot of oil over the life of your car... due to ring seating or something to that effect...

You should rev it gradually up to near red line maybe a dozen times in the first 1k miles to seat everything correctly. Otherwise those instructions look good.
