Keep in mind there is a VERY good chance that after 10 years your paint has faded to the point where the paint under the letters will be noticeably different than the rest of the trunk.

Yeah ghosting will definitely be there on an 02. Sometimes you can polish it out......sometimes. Sadly there isn't really a way to check before doing it but, you can buy some 3M adhesive to put the letters back on if it's too noticeable.

No it'll be the opposite. Ghosting happens under the letters because that area never saw sunlight so, the paint will look brand new. Everything around it will be faded. It's best to try and just polish the area so it will somewhat match.

you may also get some chipping around the letters, i de badged my 03 and around "WRX" is noticeable
