I saw this and thought that Subaru maybe affected.

Fram factory in Stratford, Ontario closing - Bob Is The Oil Guy

It looks like the Honeywell (filter division) in Canada is closing next year. I believe that's the location where the OEM Blue filters are made as well. I'm curious what repercussions this will have for Subaru. I hope to god that they bring back the black filters once again ray:.

Well... The blue ones are technically made by Fram which is known for making very cheap oil filters(cardboard end caps and such). I'm not overly concerned about this though. UOA suggest that the blue filter filters the oil very well due to low insolubles.

It wouldn't hurt to get more quality though. The black oil filters are made in Japan and taking it apart internal construction is superior to that of the blue one(metal end caps and such).
