Hey guys, I've been doing quite a bit of searching and have not found much on aftermarket head units in Subiez. Now I'm sure people are more concerned with modding their engine but I'm sure there has to be other Subie owners that are into audio. With that being said, if you have an aftermarket head unit in your Subie, post pics and info on what hardware is installed. I think this might be useful for other Subie owners looking to change out their HU for something aftermarket for better audio.

As a side note, Im looking to replace my 2012 head unit for something that will help improve audio and have Bluetooth audio/voice streaming. Any suggestions? Also what would I need to keep the steering wheel controls functional?

Let's begin!

Here's my setup (no current pics of the amp and sub).. Alpine iDA-X305 with a 120gb HDD attached. I ran new wire for EVERYTHING. Infinity Kappa 6.5" coax front doors (lower), Kenwood tweeters w/passive crossovers (upper front doors), Sony Xplod 5.25" coax (rear doors), Cerwin Vega 5"x7"s (rear deck), Boss Audio BASS600 sub (under driver's seat). Alpine PDX-4.100 (trunk) running Infinity & Cerwin Vega speakers. HU powering tweeters & rear doors.

SpeedView.. I run it nearly every time I drive since I discovered that if my speedo says I'm going 75mph that means I'm really going ~81mph. Don't wanna get a ticket. Keeping an alert set on the app for exceeding a specified speed along with my Passport Escort I feel pretty safe from speeding tickets these days.

My wife was saying'"Thats his real voice?"

It's like a big blue Christmas every time I go for a drive, lol. And if all the lights and buzzers don't keep you up the stereo sure will. Good thing about running cheap speakers with a lot of power going to them, you can play the stereo VERY loud, and if you blow a speaker.. no big deal.

(except for the hearing loss)

Or you can always roll the windows down and open up the EWG a little bit. :p -- I don't open the exhaust cutout anymore because the drone drives me crazy.

Just read up on it. Looks interesting. How much did you pay for it? And how hard was the install?

I don't remember if I asked, but in comparison to a LOC how big is it?

I am currently using a LOC for an aftermarket 10" sub. And where did you put it?

Here's mine. It's a Pioneer DEH-400UB, which is an older unit, I know, but still has USB iPod control (routed to the armrest cubby) and my father in law gave it to me gratis, so I can't complain. The cubby hole is a Forester unit, which I thought looked a lot nicer than a gaping hole. The colors match perfectly, but it does require some trimming and drilling to fit the Impreza DIN bracket.
