Hello all,
I recently bought my 2008 Subaru WRX and have recently run into a few issues. I was experiencing some low idle and really bad MPG. I took it to a tuning shop located in Vacaville California, and they came back with the troubling diagnosis of a completely shot engine block, they recommended replacing the block entirely. They say, based off the codes i was getting (P0301,P0303,P0174) that the block was a goner. They ran a Compression and leak test and these are the numbers i got back:
#1 136psi with 8% leak
#2 140psi with 3% leak
#3 135psi with 10% leak
#4 128psi with 5% leak

This is a Cobb stage one performance tuned car, with a. Possible vacuum leak, I’m just looking for any help that might tell me wether or not I’m sinking 5k or not into this engine. Any help is appreciated, thanks!!

Get a second opinion and a second compression and leakdown test.
