So I saw a pretty cool fiesta that went flying down the freeway and hit the brake lights and had a rear flashing tail light up top in the back window like the rally style blinking lights on the rally cars. Just curious has anyone ever done something similar on the 3rd brake light in the rear bumper? Did a quick search and all I can find is the 3rd brake light but nothing flashing like what I saw on this car.

You must be living under a rock... it's called a rear fog light. It is a JDM feature. And there's a thousand different variations for it aftermarket. Personally the flashing ones (called F1 rear fog light) are so annoying how they flash every single time you brake, but the "4th brake light" idea is de definitely cool.

Well now I feel stupid for not even reading your post guess I should get my coffee before I get on the computer in the morning. Facepalm. Same opinion applies, but haven't seen it on the 3rd brake light before...

My third brake light flashes in quick succession before going solid. So does the only brake light on my bike. I recommend this.

This is true, but not for brake lights. There are quite a few new cars now that flash the high mounted brake light under heavier braking. The new CrossTrek does this, as well as a few Fords. It's a factory feature.

Was this a ready-to-go kit? In for more info. I don't want a continuously flashing rear light but something like this would be perfect.

There is also a 3-in-1 rear fog (4th brake light) FWIW...that includes the reverse light as well. As for 3rd brake light...IDK.

I would be interested in something like this (and the same behavior for rear fog) if there was a setting for it that would only flash when the vehicle was at say >60% breaking, or maybe even if there was a proper value that depicts rapid deceleration. This way I wouldn't feel like I'm annoying the guy behind me flashing every time I touch the brake pedal, but it would still add the safety of the flashing in a sudden or hard braking scenario.

Nope not under a rock just been out of the “modding scene” for a bit the last ride was a truck
