Hi all, I just purchased a 2005 wrx wagon a few days ago with 146,000mi, 4eat all stock. The car had one owner previously and was maintained well. Is there anything I have to cautious about? Turbo failure, etc. How will the transmission hold up if step on the gas from time to time?

The 4EAT is not a weak point.

Do you have maintenance records? This car should be on its 3rd timing belt.

Thank you for your input! A mechanic told me the car was well maintained but records are the best evidence and unfortunately I don’t have them. I don’t hear anything associated with it going wrong but how would I know for sure, especially looking at it physically. Also, I was testing It out on the back roads pushing it pretty hard on the straight aways and noticed my boost was only reaching 3-4 psi afterwards. I let the car sit for a bit took it out again and it was fine producing about 13.5 psi which I believe is normal. I’m not sure what happened there.

In the absence of maintenance records, you should have the timing belt, tensioners, and water pump replaced immediately.
