I owned a pair of Outbacks.. always like Subaru's.

My backround is with muscle cars, all RWD

2002 Mustang GT- bolt-on's, est at 300hp.

2000 Firebird, LS1-based N/A 413HP, N20 579HP.

1998 Mustang Cobra 317hp N/A.

The new 2008 WRX caught my eye.. as I no longer go to the track on week-ends to race. Yet- I want a relatively powerful, AWD car.

My biggest decision is to get the WRX -or- wait until the STi.

What do you think?

Wait until the STI information is released. It should be out shortly.

I'll be putting down my deposit after the unveiling in late October.
 any big plans or taking it easy this time around?

He, he he... I have already taken the first step, admitting I have a problem.

This time around, it'll be stage 2 ASAP, wheels and interior/exterior mods only.

(That's what I say right now...)

Wow- I noticed the XX Tuning in your sig!

Chris dyno-tuned my 1998 Cobra.

How much do these cars respond to tuning???

Which cars, Subarus...? Like any turbo car, there is a ton of power/potential on the table. Expect increases in the range of +50-80 AWHP with a full exhaust and tune.

AWHP- that's a new term for me.

I read where the Cobb Stage 2 adds quite a bit.

While I was at XX Tuning, I noticed a Cobb Shortblock and was amazed that it's rated for over 400HP.

I might consider the 2007 STi.. question:

Is there a way to get the spoiler/trunklid from a Limited or a less attention-grabbing spoiler out back???
i wouldnt count on it. i searched for the sti limited spoiler for over a month, called the dealership, subaru of america, and every performance/appearance shop i could find. when they say limited they friggin mean it

Yeah you can swap trunks and get the wrx spoiler or a non spoiled trunk. Or you can buy a new decklid and put any spoiler on it you wish. The most common practice is to swap trunks. Every once in awhile you'll see a STI LTD spoiler for sale or you can usually order one from a dealership (if they arent all sold out at the time).

Annapolis Subaru FTW (the car you have pictured is from there).
