I noticed that there hasn’t been much talk about Motul. My tuning shop swears by it and I’ve been using 8100 X-Clean EFE 5W30 for my last 3 oil changes. Seems to work just fine, operating temperatures for daily driving look about the same. I change every 5000 miles almost on the dot.

I used to use Mobil 1 full synthetic, but after seeing a number of reviews about how it doesn’t play well with TGDI engines I decided to switch. I’ve also stopped using their filters and switched to OEM Subaru filter.

Some people have talked about how Motul isn’t an engine oil that prevents pre-ignition, but when you ask why they normally give an asshole response and don’t really explain anything. If anyone has more info on this I would interested to learn.

did the tuning shop also recommend the 5000 mile oci?

They recommended as early as 3k and no longer than 6k, so I’ve been changing every 5.

I change my oil every 2,000, and oil filter every thousand miles, because I get my oil changes for free, lol. I've been using Mobil 1 full syn 5w30.. seems like maybe not a great oil?
