Hello all I was working on my 05 wrx with my brother. I had an oil leak in a valve cover gasket on the passengers side. We got to fixing it and we put everything back exactly how we found it but we ran into some issues afterwards. First of all I left the power on so we had the radio to listen to and it turns out my battery drained out in the process. During the work the intercooler started buzzing or at least the sound came from there. It literally sounded like a bee. I took out the key and the sound went away. We thought that was weird so we just went ahead and finished the job. After we were done I started it up and the check engine light came on. Codes brought up MAF sensor. Next day the light turned off. I floored it to see how the engine felt and the pickup was substantially lower than before. In fact at around 50mph at 4.5-5.5rpm my car hesitated in the acceleration. After this my engine light came back on blinking and hasnt gone away. I read that a blinking light means cylinder misfire so I got the codes re checked and now I got MAF, air temp sensor, cylinder 1 misfire. Any ideas??

Update: We took out coil number one just now and looked at it. It looks as if the metal rings that run at the base are somewhat bent/broken. We also checked the spark plug and it seemed to have oil at the tip also with the porcelin being cracked. We swapped coil 1 with coil 3 to troubleshoot and see if cylinder 3 would now misfire. After sowing everything back up we reved the engine with no load up to 6k rpms and it was fine. No engine light no codes nothing. Now we went to a deserted strip to test it again this time moving. At about 4,500 rpms pedal to the floor it felt as if the turbo crapped out. Car stopped accelerating. It pulled and let go, pulled and let go, pulled and let go (pedal to the floor the whole time) the speed was stuck at around 40mph if I remember correctly. When I attempt to accelerate as fast as I can I get this response but if I keep the pedal at half power I can get to 90mph free way no problem. I also checked under the intercooler to see what could have been buzzing previously. It turns out the whole wire harness runs under there. I think I have a really bad electrical problem somewhere. Before these problems my alarm system's sine tone was not beeping when activated or deactivated. It would only work when it snowed or rain making me thing somewhere down the line there is a small break in a circuit or maybe a bad connection. After the nasty buzz sound I heard coming from the intercooler area, the alarm sine tone works flawlessly rain or shine with out fail. What do you guys say I do at this point? Or what input do you have? I am going to take it to the dealer this weekend and demand they either fix it or refinance me for a much lower price. Already I have had to change the valvcover gasket (and I still smell oil burning somewhere every so often as if a drop falls somewhere every so often) have to change all 4 tires, had to change two front rotors, and had to change all 4 brake pads within 1 month of owning the car.

Sounds like a crap-shoot. I'd be going back to the dealer.

You have to get the MAF working correctly before you do any more pulls.
