If you can help I would appreciate it..........
I have an 02'WRX with 130k. Crank is knocking and some mechanic said I need a new short block. some people said you could just pull lower block and bore it out, or maybe just switch out all the bearings. Is there any other options what I can do to fix without buying a new short block.

Buy a used motor and swap it in.. in some cases you can just rebuild your current engine, but often for the cost and time associated with rebuilding it's more sensible to just get a new shortblock.

The first thing you should do is determine the cause of the failure, otherwise the same thing will happen to your replacement engine.
