Aright this is what happen. I was driving in seattle, and seattle has some steep crazy hills. Anyways I was going up one. and I had to stop. So the light turns green and I start giving it some gas but the car didnt move much so then I pushed the the gas even more and my rpms went up to 6000 for a sec then I slowly released my clutch. Even at 6000 rpms my car barely moved. I could smell my clutch. But after that, my car felt really weird. Did I harm my car? Today when I drove my car it felt pretty close to normal. Is it just me thats making me think its not 100% normal or did I really burn my clutch that bad. Help me out. Thanks guys!

j/k, but seriously, that stinks. I have accidentally smelt some clutch when i let the revs get up to high in 1st. Its not a good idea to change cds in your riovolt player when your 1st at a stop light. If its driving normal now, I wouldnt worry too much, but if you feel the need, take it to get looked at, but dont let those carnivores at the dealership/garage prescribe all kinds of other crap.

This has happened to me too but I definitely did not try to rev it higher to get the car going. I just stall my car like a real man .

After an F'd up launch two nights ago from 6k rpms, and I let the clutch out too slowly, I definitely smelled my poor clutch. I tend to look on the bright side though, and there is one here. I smoked a Porsche 911 Carrera 4 to the next light.

I'd agree with Flyboy. I think that your clutch is fine. I, of course, wouldn't make it a habit of doing that, but every once in a while won't totally detroy it.

Oh, and I bet Flyboy's right about you being in third gear. Be a real man and do what Sherb does...

I take care it like no other. I have a little over 2,000 miles on it and I have redlined 2 times. But hopefully in time, I will get less paranoid

i almost have 2000mi myself, and im just like you (first new car). However now that the engine is broken in, the WRX actually rewards those who drive aggressively. You will find the more you drive, the more you will get a real feel for its handling and pickup, and the better you will drive it. My WRX doesnt see alot of highway since im local to my job, but when i get it on the open road, it shows me how to hug the curves and pickup on the straits.

When you burn the clutch, it's life is significantly reduced. But there are worse things to worry about. When you can smell it, you should be concerned.

Be comforted by the knowledge that you're all that much closer to getting a really good clutch when you replace the stock garbage. It's a modification opportunity!!!!

This happened to me the night I drove away from the dealership. See, my WRX is the first MT I've ever had. So I was learning as I was SLOWLY getting home. I got to this light, and it turned red. A new MT driver's worst nightmare. When the light turned green my car stalled. I continued to stall through THREE LIGHT CYCLES!!! Finally, I reved it high and the car began to move ever so slow. When I tried to shift to what I tought was supposed to be 2nd, I realized that I was trying to take off in 3rd. After wiping the gallon of sweat off of my forehead and sleeping on it a few nights, I found the situation to be funny. But at that moment, I could have sworn that it was the worst moment of my entire life.

That sounds like me along while back, only I was at a hill. This was when I was stationed at NAS Whidbey Island, you guys from seattle probably know about Oak Harbor and some of the hills around there. I then ventured down to Seattle boy did I burn the clutch up there.

Yeah...I felt like I was torturing my car, but if you think about it it's a new car; therefore, it should be able to handle a little more abuse. At least that's how I justified it to myself so that I could sleep at night.
