Hey guys,

Going to get my car back from the shop today, as I got a CEL two days ago...apparently Cylinder 1 misfired, but the the car is okay now. I was wondering what the heck could cause the misfire? I remember my dad drove my car two days ago without warming it up, I'm thinking that may have caused an issue as he, um, let's just say he likes to take advantage of the turbo boost haha Anyone here had a cylinder misfire before?

Could be a loose plug boot, bad spark plug, or a bad coil pack.
Some WRXs have had warranty work done on the ECU because they were supposedly overly sensitive to misfire.

how do you know if your engine or cylinders have misfired ? I did my firsthand spark plug replacement yesterday. Thinking, did I tight the spark plugs hard enough. Thanks

You should get a CEL and the code would indicate misfire and the location.

If you thought the plugs were decent, they were probably tight enough (likely).

Thanks SD_GR.... that's good that I find out I installed the spark plugs correctly and just enough tightness...
:)
