im looking at a subaru to buy and the only thing that was done to it, aftermarket, was a cobb access port for a year and a half on stage 1. how bad is that for the motor and is it safe to buy??? The wrx has less than 100,000 miles.

From all the information I've gathered. Cobb stage 1 is VERY conservative. Shouldn't be a problem at alll.
If anything I'd put a stage 1 tune back on it. Really smooths out the powerband.

Every car handles it different. That being said, I doubt it is any worse on average than the stock tune. I've heard of both the stock tune and a Cobb tune having issues.

I'd be more concerned with who was driving it over a Cobb tune at least.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you are overly concerned, offer to take it for a compression test or do one with the owner. If it passes, it's on you. Otherwise, it's on him.
