Hello! I have been having some trouble with my blower motor recently. I first noticed when every fan speed stopped working, all I could hear was the actuator clicking, then it would randomly work again and fast forward a couple days the motor sounded very loud and had very weak airflow. I ended up picking up a whole motor assembly from a 2002 wrx sti which had the resistor in it as well. (Was very lucky to find a rhd part out).

I put the new motor in and boom I finally had heat again and all the different fan speeds! Wow! Luxury Living!

Now a week later; I only have the 3rd speed setting working - all other speeds I can only hear the actuator clicking :( can someone shed some light on what could be causing this? It’s also -40°c here where I am, it might be the cold weather? Thanks!

Can you just replace the resistor?
the whole assembly I ended up getting had a new resistor in it, unless I have horrible luck and this one is bad too. I’m hoping that’s not the case but I may have to look into it.
All the symptoms point towards the Resistor but it’s also working on the 3rd speed which subarus speeds are resisted 1,2 and 3 but the 4th speed isn’t used by the resistor. Which makes it more odd.

I didn’t mean to say new as in brand new but new to me, it was off a jdm sti - update also: all speeds are working as of now, I believe I may have a connection issue on my hands.
It wouldn’t make sense for it to be only working on the 3rd speed if it was the resistor being a problem, but I’ll keep you posted.
