My check engine light came on(its not the gas cap) and I heard that you can just diconnect the car battery and it will go off. If its a real problem then it will come on again and then take it to the dealer. Is this true? Should I just disconnect the battery? Thanks for all the help.

Get the code pulled from a local Autozone/advanced auto/etc. It may be nothing or it may be something you need fixed.

Yea. Is it difficult to use the autozone code puller? I heard that they can't help you because its agaisnt regulation.

They advertise it. Walk in, ask for them to check codes, they check the codes for free, drive away

Ok. I also just got my ecu replaced by Subaru which also caused the check engine light to go on, so I think it could be related.
