Cheapest AxleBack with decent Quality?

11489 Views 32 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  CTSubieNoob
This is probably asked a lot, but what is the cheapest Axleback/Muffler Delete out there that isn't obnoxiously loud.. I just want a bit of rumble/crackle when revving, and a bit more noise at higher rpm's in gear.

I'm thinking the Subispeed AxleBacks..
Subispeed Axle Back Exhaust System - 2015+ WRX / 2015+ STI - Axle Back - Exhaust - 15+ WRX
Or... the Remark AxleBacks...
GReddy Remark Muffler Delete - 2015+ WRX / STI - Axle Back - Exhaust - 15+ WRX

Anyone have any thoughts?

I don't know if the OEM hangers would have been any different since I didn't try them. I wish I could get them a little higher up. And maybe I could with the smaller holes in the hanger, I don't know. But here's how they turned out.

Nameless axleback 5" mufflers/4" cans. They claim its a 5 out of 10 on the sound scale on their website. They say the muffler delete is a 10/10, and stock being 0/10.
I would say it's more like a 7/10 personally. Still could get the coppers attention IMO.
So you went with the 4". Besides how loud (I agree with your rating 7/10) how do you like them?

As far as pulling them up I used the adjustable hangars with 3 holes on 1 side & 1 on the other then just use 2 of the closer holes. I just left them when I swapped mufflers from my wrx to sti. I am just getting around to reordering them.

yeah those look like they would work better.. I'm fairly certain the OEM are almost identical to the Nameless mounts.
5" muffler/4" tips

**EDIT*** to answer the question how do I like them.
I like them better than the muffler delete, that was pretty obnoxious. They don't drone, but you can always hear them if you know what I mean. it's not that inner ear constant irritant, just that you know they are there. Turn the radio on and they are mostly forgotten.
the look is nice, the 4" tips fill out the opening nicely too as you can see above.
all in all I'm happy with the purchase.
Thoughts...

This may be an unpopular answer, but it comes from experience and having been exactly where you are.

Would always opt for a proven product such as Nameless or ETS before going with SRS or other eBay Axle backs.

Just replaced my WRX's mid-pipe/y-pipe with Nameless resonated unit. Replaced OE hangers with GrimmSpeed poly hangers.

Zen Tuning Titanium axle back with burnt blue tips (muffler delete) to finish the system. A functional work of art... It rocks.

Probably the 10/10 in noise level that folks here reference though it does not seem at all obtrusive to me.

Fantastic tone. No drone at all. Docile low pitched rumble at idle and while cruising. Tolerable IMHO.

Moderately insane exhaust note while shifting through the gears & outright brutal sound at full throttle.

Am very please with the combination of these two systems as a CBE.

Thanks for the information everyone!

I've decided to go for a CBE. I might was well for the extra 300 bucks instead of spending 600 on a Nameless 4inch.

I'm ordering the Invidia r400 CBE!!
(I'm buying the 2.5" dp to 3" conversion and probably new hangars as well)

lol told you.

r400 is nice. One of the quieter exhausts, but sounds great WOT. Minimal Drone.
Excellent...

...well done. Congratulations. I believe you will be pleased in the long run that you purchased a cat back versus just the axle back. Time will tell.Knowing the build quality of the Subaru factory mid-y pipe being what it is... not entirely bad, but not really great either (restricted, rust & corrosion prone)......and... if you like generally quiet while in most situations save for rapid acceleration and at WOT then IMHO you've chosen very wisely. Enjoy !
Just kidding, I might consider the dual exit N1 as well....
Hey...

Just kidding, I might consider the dual exit N1 as well....
...when you finally decide I hope it works for you & that you don't end up on the "slippery slope" of additional (replacement) purchases.

My CBE worked for me right out of the box & continues to please (as it matures) so I really feel fortunate to have made a correct initial choice.

I have had an N1 on my 16 STI for a little over a year and I absolutely love it. My lady does not, but who cares! Aesthetically speaking, I prefer the look r400, but the note of the N1 was the overall deciding factor.

I actually don't mind the look of the N1's! They sound pretty good in videos, but I'd be worried about their drone on highways. Can you say anything about that? Also, what about the N1 note did you like better?
