Blown engine 2014 wrx

OK, I have a 14 wrx, it has the stage 2+ power from Cobb and the other day after a bit of spirited driving i heard a knock and clicking sounds..... Yep the motor is gone bye bye :(
I think I lucked out like a mofo.. because of the mods Subaru wasn't going to do the warranty on the motor but for some reason they are doing a "goodwill gesture" and are going to install a brand new motor but i have to buy a new Ecu then they will do the work but there's no warranty on the new motor, and that's OK because i have a 100k mile extended warranty. I'm thinking about going back to stock and sell off the mods. i never launched or ran the engine to the red line, I thought the motors were pretty reliable on these things.the exhaust and the intake will be easy to remove and the reason I posted here is because of the Accessport... since the Ecu is being replaced im not going to be able to un marry the tune. How would I go about making it sell-able so another driver can marry it to their WRX?

Do you still have the car in your possession? The engine does not need to be running in order to flash a new map. Or even if it is at the dealer, it is still your property. As long as the car is still together, go in the car and go to "uninstall" on the accessport and it will flash the stock map back to the car and unmarry itself.

I am just curious, what all mods were done to your car? and what tune were you running? These cars are still reliable even at stage 2 levels as long as they are tuned properly. But sometimes these things happen. Curious as to why you are bailing out on the brand over one mishap....... Especially when Subaru is being kind enough to give you a brand new engine at no cost to you. They most definitely do not have to. These engines are mass produced and 99 percent of them run great. Every now and again one slips through the cracks.
Knock knock knock sounds like a bearing. What exactly was the failure

If theres no warranty on the new motor, your 100K mile extended warranty isn't going to cover that motor. Just a heads up.
To make the accessport usable for the new owner, you would have to take it to Cobb so they can unlock it for like 100 dollars if i recall correctly.
I bought the car 2 months ago(I've put 5800 miles), with mods already on it. Turboback Cobb exhaust, Cobb sf intake with box, accessport v3. I noticed the car seemed a bit sluggish that day. My spirited driving was with the Cobb OTS stage 2 SF intake 93 octane and I hit around 19.5 pounds of boost. I had a 2013 wrx, it was fun band it was stock so I figured stock would be safer on the engine long term. I try my best to take good care of all my vehicles.
Wouldn't he be able to sell it with the ecu that he has to replace, hence giving them the tuner 'unmarried' in a technical sense? Considering its just an ecu swap at that point, or am I missing something?

Even if it isn't thru Subaru? I think the company's name is Advanced.

I've heard of that before

Aftermarket warranties generally only cover the original equipment that is on the car at the time it leaves the factory. You could always call them directly to verify.

Gotta love generic diagnosis on failures. Really helps prevent a future problem with the same thing. Well hopefully all works out for you and you can have more time enjoying your car.

That sucks, hope everything works out for you.
*chuckle* I just blew my 2014 wrx up about 6 weeks ago.
Had 6 months left on the warranty as I only ranked up 22,XXX miles on the motor.
They unfortunately did not "good will" me at all but instead while taking apart the motor
to look at the failure, they broke 2 of my bolts as well as lost a DP Nut.
They quoted me $10,000 for a new long block.
I told them to shove that up their ass and I was just going to
buy a Stage 1 STi short block w/Manley Pistons (capable up to 450AWHP)
So far with my new build I've spent only $4,000 because once i pulled the heads off
they were completely fine (no warps/bends) I just ended up re-surface the heads myself lol.

Note the $4k includes a paid in advance Pro-Tune ($500) and a base break in tune ($125).
And i believe I seen someone say that the WRX can handle Stage 2 Cobb, which is false to an extent. WRX has a well known reputation for the ring lands on the pistons to fail once you go Stage 2.
It's 300 to relicense the ap. If you decide to sell it for some reason, I'll take it off your hands
