ya know..i knew it would happen sooner or later. But why so soon? :(

Discovered a passenger back door ding tonight. Not sure when i happened. No paint chips..but looks a little scratched and looking at the angle you can see it's definately dinged.

someone make me feel better and say i'm not the only one :(

btw, do any of you guys have any recommendations on how to remove a ding?

Close call

Some kid opened the door to the car right next to me so fast and wide that I swear I was gonna get hit but fortunately I parked it beyond his reaches. Sucks when people are careless! I think you can go to a paintless dent removal place, it might cost a little money though. :(

i've got a MAJOR ding problem. iam averageing one per month! two on the back passenger door. (about the size of a dime.) one on the rear driver fender. <------that one is definitely an suv becasue of how high it is.

now, i live in an apartment complex, but i am anal about who i park next to (no minivans or suvs, and try to find a nicer car.) what i don't understand is. i've opened my door and it touched another car before. MANY a time. and when i closed the door and checked the other car there was no damage or ding whatsoever. what i want to know is, are these people just KICKING the goddamned thing open as hard as they can? i was debating on setting up a camera system so that i have someone pay for their ding!!! (a little much, but i'd love to catch someone)

there are a couple of ding removal specualkty shops around here. DING DENT DONE is one of them, but he seemed a little pricey. supposedly there is a guy local that does it for real cheap, and uses one of the suction things.

i dunno. i'm not fixing the dings till i'm out of a parking lot situation.

I am about as ANAL as it comes to door dings. I consider it as bad as a Hit and Run accident in my book!

Heres a story you guys with dings with love. I was at Community College on day a few years ago (driving a Ford Escort...but it was MY ford escort!). I was sitting in my car studying for a test before class when this lady pulled in next to me and got out and hit my car with her door. I couldn't believe it, I was 'bout to jump out and whoop sum ass, but it was a girl, what could I do. I watch her to see if she would check my door for a ding, and ofcoarse she didn't. So when she walked off to go to class, I got out of my car, walked around to the passenger side car and keyed her car from front to back with one nice long stroke as I walked in between the cars. I then got back into my car, pulled out of the spot, found another place to park and went to class. I can only assume that she'll be more careful in the future.

I've also gotten into arguments with people that I witnessed touching my car. I get really, really pissed at them and mention that the paint job on my car was custom and expensive, and the I make them sweat it while I inspect the area for like five minutes telling them that if there is a dent, it's gonna be expensive, and I'm not letting it go. After they have a few minutes of calculating what it might cost for them to fix my car if I am going to be an asshole about it, I usually yell a small lecture their way about being more careful before they find their car with Brake Fluid poured over it!

Also, if you witness someone do it, and drive off without leaving a note, I am dying to take that one to the police for a HIT and RUN Felony and see how far I can take it to F**K the other person over.

OK...Venting time is over.

I hate door dings, the other day some idiot driver parked right next to me while I was sitting in my car and he hit my right door as he was getting out of the car. I didn't want to make a big deal out of it or anything but I just wanted to see if there were any damages. So I get out of my car and before I can even get to the passenger side of my car the f-ker tells me "There's no dent..." in a rude tone and didn't even apoligize. Those people piss me off... but damn door dings are inevitable. Once they start building up I am going to take it to a paintless dent removal place and get rid of all of them in 1 shot.

Possible??

Is it possible to call a cop and press charges? People ding my old car all the time and with me inside it. They press on with thier lives as if it was nothing. For future references is it possible to make them pay for it and how would I go about doing it? People are mean here and I would think they will just leave and say it didn't happen.

if you saw it happening tell them that you would like to get that dent removed and ask them to pay for you. If they refuse to pay you can jot down their license plate and take it to a police station. Write down exactly when it happened and if they deny it you can have the cops examine the paint if that chipped on your car will match his. Well this is what you should do for a hit n run, and I think you should do this only if they're really freaken anal about it. Sucks to say but if they aren't willing to cooperate sometimes you just might have to suck it up because sometimes it's just a hassle doing all that.

I actaully had a fat dent on my right fender :( It was much about the size of a mouse (sorry can't think of a better example right now) but I managed to message out most of it by sticking my hand in the snorcle hole. Now the dent is about the size of a quarter and just a couple more dings I will get all my stupid ass dents removed all at once.

Dude, I would have been tempted to kick one of his door panels and then calmly announce, 'none here either!'.

Was he big? His attitude seemed like adequate grounds for a throw-down!

Here's a thought: Print up some sticky 'posters' measuring about 8x12" that read "The owner of this vehicle selfishly slammed their door into my vehicle. I enjoyed returning the favor with my foot/key/door/[insert whatever]."

Then, when you witness someone door-dinging your Rex and are confident they didn't pay much attention to your car, stick it across their windshield. It will be a b*tch to remove without a bucket of warm water. My college used to do a similar thing to people that had illegally parked. It was a pretty good deterrent.

Pace- I like your idea, since I always wonder if the stupid idiots ever know why I dented their car back.

Even better than putting the sticker on the windsheild would be to put it right smack on the hood of his car. And make sure that you use some extra industrial adhesive on the back of that sticker too since you wouldn't want it to just *fall* off would you? ;)

Big guy or not, a rude remark like that would be reason for at least more words if not a throw-down.

BTW, I know I said I'd like to file a hit & run, I think I've been told that the police don't consider door dings as hit & run. In which case, it seems fair to me that you could dent their car right back in front of the person and they couldn't press charges against you either. :) Just make sure the dent you left in their car is BIGGER than the one on yours.

OR

Right down their licence plate# and desc. of the vehicle and do a little research. DMV info is public record, and with a little research you could get the registered owners name and address. After that, it would only be a coincidence that their house caught fire while they were not home, or their car had brake fluid poured all over it sitting in the driveway.

OR

Wait till the person leaves and then go and let all the air out of ALL 4 TIRES! With only 1 spare in the car, you'll be sure to ruin the rest of their day. Plus, this option is good for anyone who has problems with their conceous since this will not cause any permanent damage.
