I'm getting a little tired of this happening. I'll be travelling anywhere from 10 - 20 mph, downshift into 1st and I get a horrible crunch from the shift. All the while the clutch is fully engaged too!! I'm taking it in to the dealer, but I thought I would post first to get some firepower.

I don't claim to be a race car driver, but I do know how to drive a stick and I've never had a car that's this choppy when shifting.

Please let me know your thoughts. And keep the "learn to drive" posts to a minimum please

A lot of us have this problem, I'm not sure why it happens because the WRX does have a 1st gear syncro. I've noticed that if you Rev Match when downshifting into first, it doesn't crunch though. Maybe it's because 1st is such a low gear compared to second.

Thanks for the tip. That does work when downshifting at higher speeds, i've tried it.

However, the crunch occurs most of the time just when I'm coasting to a stop sign, going very slow (10-15mph). That's why I'm a little worried.
