Adding an exterior trunk release button to base and premium model 15-17 WRX?

The lack of an exterior trunk release button is a constant annoyance for me. I think the Limiteds with keyless ignition have a trunk button hidden above the rear license plate. Has anyone out there figured out a way to retrofit those parts to the base and premium models?

The keyless uses the keyless remote to operate the trunk button, so I imagine you'd still be SOL.

If you can push the trunk button, you can probably press the button on the fob anyway :)

Thanks for the response. That's what I was afraid of with the keyless remote. It just seems like kind of an odd omission based on my prior vehicles.

Isn't this entire website devoted to first world problems? I don't think cat-back exhausts and carbon fiber hoods are going to bring safe drinking water to sub-Saharan Africa....

The problem would lie in the fact that if it's there, and you rigged it to somehow work without the keyless remote, it wouldn't know if the car was locked or unlocked still. So it would work all the time.
