Hello everyone, has anyone ever experienced their AC not running only when you are idling on 2016 WRX. Works great when I drive and even when i come to a stop for 2-5 min but then stops. I checked my condenser fan and it's running, checked my hi/low side pressures all within specification. Not sure what this could be. if you have any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you

Without air flowing through the condenser, refrigerant warms up. What are the pressure readings at idle? Is there any debris wedged in or around the condenser? I experienced a noticable difference in my 16wrx too, when I was just sitting in it. There are alot possibilities. Might be a little low on refrigerant?

It should be a sealed system. If you experience this again there is a possibility of a very small leak somewhere. There are sniffers out there you can use to find it if the problem persists.

Thank you for your answer, I removed all the refrigerant and placed a vacuum then recharged to exactly 17 oz and it works great now.
I didn't fully understand the previous comment. The operation of the compressor itself doesn't depend on the speed of the car! But the supplied cooled air when the car is standing is almost not noticeable after the interior has cooled down! I understand that you have climate control-put it at the coldest possible temperature, and everything gets cold at once. Plus, the engine speed and tonality on a standing car, when the air conditioner is running, change! Or the a/c compressor works from the crankshaft drive respectively at idle engine speed the compressor shaft rotation speed is quite small, it just can't cope. The protection cuts off the compressor because the refrigerant is overheating. You can ask for affordable and reliable aircon service. They'll give you right advice.
