Hi everyone! Just 3 months ago I bought a new 2011 WRX sedan here in Ohio. I have been a Subaru owner since 2003 back in Japan, started from Forester Cross Sports (SG5, EJ20 with turbo) , then BL5 (Legacy 2.0GT Spec.B) and BP9 (Legacy S402). After my relocation to the US, I was still eager to drive AWD with boxer turbo, so ended up buying WRX. Recently I started doing a few modifications to the car and I enjoy it as I lived in Japan.

Good that I found this forum to exchange information. Also hope to get to know other WRX guys around the area I live! :)

How does the American version hold up compared to those lovely JDM's? lol

I wish we could get some of the options Japan gets, like the Spec-C STi's!!

This forum is big on pictures! I know you said you started modding the WRX, any pictures of what you have done?

The most obvious mod is the 18'' wheels from Japan (Work Meister S1), fitted with Continental Winter tires :) It's a forged alloy, lighter than the stock 17'' wheel and I guess I will get 18'' summer tires after this winter season. I've started with small mods such as blow-off valve, K&N performance air filter and AVO stabilizer links. They are small mods, but make quite a difference from the stock!

I also uploaded some other pics of my previous subies in Japan...just go to the album!

Being your 4th Subaru, I would have figured you'd know by this point that these mods will hurt your performance more than help...

It may hurt the performance but they do give the car a mean sound... Perhaps a tune to take advantage of the better breathing? PS.. That wagon looks beast.

Lol, I finished it off with a somewhat logical closing statement... If you go out on the street right now and ask any one to make a 'Turbo' sound.. 90% will make a Spool and BOV sound...

What I meant was 100% recirculating bypass valve, not blowing the charged air to the atmosphere but we called it blow off valve. Plus, the air filter is just a drop-in style. I would not use the high flow air intake (here is it called Cold Air Intake or something like that?). In the past 3 vehicles I did exactly the same and worked great.

Indeed indeed, just a bit of culture shock. When you say BOV, most people think vent to atmosphere, and CAI usually means a full intake replacement.
