As long as you understand what you are giving up, that's fine.

A good summer tire can have credible rain performance, FYR.

I used to run sottozero3 in the winter on my WRX, it was fun but overkill for where I live in nj. I just got a type r, another car that comes with summer tires. This time I went with an all season as my winter setup, michelin pilot sport 4 A/S, so far I like them but the car is just barely broken in so other than confirming that they are good enough in the snow for me I don't really have much of an opinion yet. First impressions are good tho.
