Hi
Just joined the forum and I'm hoping for some guidance. I take possession of my 2019 STI this week. I'm in Ontario Canada and I'm getting conflicting advice on winter rim/tire options. My regular shop says they have 17s that go over the Brembos and everyone else says minimum is 18s. Sorry if this question has been asked before, can anyone suggest best options with economy in mind?

If you drive the car like a sane person, anything that will fit will work. If you want ultimate performance at all times then stick with factory specs.

I take it easy on mine, especially in cold weather, and use a smaller narrower rim/tire.

17" diameter wheels have a few benefits:
1) Lighter than equivalent 18" equivalent
2) Cheaper than equivalent 18" equivalent
3) 17" tires are cheaper than 18" tires

If the shop can get you into a set of 17" tires where a tire calculator shows that the speedo difference is minimal, get the weight specs on the wheel, compare them to your OE ones, and make a decision. A lighter wheel is always a good thing on a performance vehicle.
