2018 WRX Limited new clutch

Very happy with the upgrades on the 2018 WRX. Had a 2015 WRX and clearly the clutch is softer. The new one takes getting used to. Had the car for a week and still learning. Are there others out there having to adjust? If so, how long did it take?

The clutch on all 2015+ WRXs is really bad. Been driving a stick for 30 years, this WRX for two, and this car's clutch still kicks me in the jewels if I let my guard down.
I've got a 17 WRX limited and I prefer this clutch to the ones in previous cars. It's lighter with a wider friction zone. The thing I really hate is the hill assist thing.

I agree. It was hard. But then you get used to it. The new one is like a feather. I have to find myself focusing otherwise I stall the car or do a rock n roll ride. LOL

Why? When I lived in San Francisco, this would be great. There I had a GTI and Audi. Those hills were killers because people would be so close to you on a hill. Hated it.

That's what I say, why?
It works great.
the engagement is pretty high on the pedal so that's kinda weird, but you get use to it. maybe use a bump stop if it's hard to get use to.

Don?t get me wrong, Bucks and Hunterdon counties where I live have a lot of very steep hills, so it?s not that it?s only only getting used once in a while, it?s that i don?t like the draggy feel. It?s like it takes more engagement and throttle to get the brake to release than it does without it. The way it feels just really bothers me.
The MY18 clutch is absolutely a learning curve to say the least. Been driving clutch for 10 years and it took me upwards of 3500 miles to really get the hang of it. Most because of the throttle sensitivity and inconsistency though. You're either not giving it enough or your flooring it, hardly any in between. The clutch itself has a longer engagement zone than the MY15-17 and overall feels smoother. Would like it a touch heavier if I had to critique it. I think an ECU flash to correct the throttle input will improve the overall experience but I've got some time for that as I'm only at 5k miles. Overall, I like it.

As for the Hill Assist- I also like it. Only had one or 2 instances in 5k miles that she "stuck" a little. It makes for very nice transition on hills.
I feel a lot of the hate for the hill assist is not understanding exactly how it works. If you completely stop and it engages you simply need to step on the gas a bit and it will release. Basically I get the clutch to the bite point and when I'm ready, step on the gas, assist drops brakes and off I go.

Gotcha

It does feel smoother. I think coming from a heavier clutch to soft one has been a challenge. But I do like it too. I'm slowly getting it.

Never had issue with the hill assist. Here in Texas, there isn't too many hills to be concerned about it too much. Glad it is there though
I'm mixed on hill assist. On a steep hill, it's great but I really don't need it when it's a slight incline. Here in Georgia, it's a mixed bag. I would love it if I could change at what incline I could tell it to engage.
I also have a 2018, it takes a bit of time to truly get used to the clutch. Having a stage 1 tune helps a lot, as it greatly reduces power levels at low throttle amounts (no more 100% torque requested @ 30% throttle peddle non-sense).

but ya.. regardless the car will stall FAST if you goof up from a stop
