Hey all,

I just recently purchased a 2017 WRX Premium and was wondering about Roof Rack systems for the 2017 WRX. I usually snowboard in the winter and was interested in a roof rack for my boards so I can bring a few friends along on weekends trips. I just became aware that the new 2018 WRX's come with with factory mounting points, which annoy me because I really need that! :tisk: Anyway we may have the dealer put these new 2018 mounting systems on the 2017? Any suggestions from members who has experience with this issue and has dealt with it in a convenient way? I prefer to mount the system in the most non-invasive way to the factory finish of my vehicle (no drilling, door jamming, etc.).

Thanks peeps,

Rhino Rack is the simplest option.

Fit My Car | Rhino-Rack

IDK why they didn't just keep the rack mounting points from the previous generation. To add an OEM rack to my 2012 only cost about $150...

Do these racks need to be drilled into the car, or installed in between the door jam?

If you have a late 2017 WRX, you might have the roof mounting points like those on the 2018 models. Try popping up your roof molding. Mine has the following mounting points.
Cool! I think mine has these as well! Were you able mount a rack successfully on your 2017, if so, what type of rack are you using? Do you know if there is a modified roof molding to replace after mounting the roof racks to make it look more flush? Thanks for the reply! :)

I purchased the roof bars and ski rack from
https://www.newenglandsubaruparts.co...OA567X050.html

Thule Crossbar Set - Fixed
Part Number: SOA567X050
$ 261.26 + free shipping

https://www.amazon.com/2010-2016-Sub.../dp/B01K5HSNL0

2010-2016 Subaru Ski & Snowboard Rack KIT WRX STi Outack Forester SOA567S010 Genuine TUHLE OEM
$141.94 & FREE Shipping

It looks to be fitting perfectly, but I haven't installed them.

As to roof molding, I plan to drill and use a plug when my rack is not on.

I believe Subaru sells the molding that comes on the '18s, but I cannot confirm it completely because they do not have the picture posted with the part on the site, they're about $87 each. Can someone confirm if these part#s are what I need to replace the 2017 roof moldings for the existing port holes? 91046VA030 and 91046VA020
