2015+ J-Pipe Ground Strap, Did we ever figure this out?

Like the title says... I was just bored thinking about my exhaust setup the other day and remembered I never re-installed the ground strap that goes from the chassis of the car to the J-pipe since my J-pipe didn't come with a spot for it. It's been 11,000 miles now and I haven't noticed any difference.

Did we ever figure out what it's purpose is? Only thing I was able to find was one tuner claiming leaving it uninstalled fried their dyno, and one other chap saying it threw his accesport out of wack (both sound like coincidences to me).

So what is this straps purpose... does it give our cars some sort of voodoo magic I'm missing out on :screwy:? The closest answer that somewhat makes any sense was for a completely different car and it stated they would add the ground strap to reduce corrosion :confused1. Another said it's to neutralize static charge in the exhaust for better flow? That just sounds like straight bro-science to me :rotfl:

Well my employees primary o2sensor went bad after going catless within 1k miles and they said it might have been the reason for it
I took mine off. It was too short to reach my AM j-pipe. Will eventually replace it with a longer one but my AP has been fine and I haven't had any weird issues so far.

Hmm... But the O2 sensor has it's own ground in it's harness.

I took mine off. It was too short to reach my AM j-pipe. Will eventually replace it with a longer one but my AP has been fine and I haven't had any weird issues so far.
Yeah I suppose one day I'll lengthen it and weld a bolt to the J-pipe to mount it onto.
Has to do with that 'cover' on the OEM piece not directly (e.g. welded) connected to the rest of the pipe. No cover on new pipe; no need for the strapon.

hmmm... I'm going to have to go back and take a look at the stock pipe then.
